CiROCCO Project was presented by the Project Manager, Dr Chrysoula Papathanasiou (ICCS) at SafeAttica 2023 Conference, which took place in Athens 25-27 September 2023.

More specifically, the joint effort of partners from ICCS and UCY was orally presented in the event and in a publication entitled “Enhancing in-situ environmental observation to support desert dust storm events monitoring”. The publication included an overview of the CiROCCO Project, its main components, expected outcomes and services, and focused on the impacts of Desert Dust Storm (DDS) events on the Eastern Mediterranean Region.

The Pilot of Cyprus and the relevant CiROCCO service were thoroughly discussed to demonstrate the impacts of DDS events on the health of the local population of Cyprus and the Pilot’s aim to establish a robust and accurate Early Warning System for DDS that will be adopted by the relevant regulatory authorities and made available to the general public.
