CiROCCO at EUMETSAT’s Cluster Meeting on Developing Applications in Support of the European Green Deal
In the first week of February, CiROCCO participated in this important event where EU-funded teams and the wider Earth Observation crowd got together to figure out how to turn research into real services people can use. Projects, stakeholders, and representatives from different institutions sat together to set priorities, compare notes, and tackle technical hurdles like data access or making different systems work together; boosting how much Earth Observation applications matter and get used across Europe.
At the meeting, Eleni Drakaki of project partner NOA shared what they’ve been working on in Task 3.4. She walked through new progress in satellite-based aerosol modelling and data assimilation; where by blending satellite data with atmospheric models, they’re sharpening forecasts for dust and air quality, strengthening early-warning services, and giving a real leg up to environmental monitoring in places that don’t get much attention.
